Latin America and the Caribbean boast one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world, yet cross-border energy exchange remains limited. This keynote session will explore the challenges and opportunities involved in advancing a more integrated regional energy market—one that enables more efficient use of renewable resources while enhancing supply security and affordability. Building on past experience and renewed political and institutional momentum, the session will examine the need to harmonize regulations, strengthen governance, and expand electricity and gas interconnection infrastructure. It will emphasize the critical role of coordinated regional planning and collaboration among countries and multilateral institutions to develop a sustainable and resilient model for energy integration.
