Keynote Session: Financing Just Energy Transitions

Time:11:00 to 12:30

Building: Cultural Center

Hall: Conventions Hall

What is the way to collaborate to close the financing gap that stands in the way of Latin America’s energy transition?
It is planned to bring together key stakeholders to discuss and develop innovative solutions to attract private capital and mobilize the resources needed to modernize electricity grids, integrate renewables, build clean energy infrastructure, and address financing needs for both climate change mitigation and adaptation in the region.

Resilience: Climate Change, Heat Waves, Flooding

Time:16:00 a 17:30

Building: Institute

Hall: Main Hall

The objective of the discussion is to analyze the challenges that climate change imposes on the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to explore adaptation strategies to strengthen the resilience of these systems to extreme phenomena such as heat waves and floods.
As these events become more frequent and intense, electrical infrastructure faces significant pressures, from increased energy demand to risks of supply disruptions and physical damage.
The discussion will focus on concrete cases, such as the impact of heat waves in Mexico and floods in Brazil, to identify innovative solutions and opportunities for collaboration to mitigate these risks and ensure a secure, sustainable and resilient energy supply in the region.

Without investment there is no transition: the new role of distribution 2.0 and distributed generation

Time:16:00 a 17:30

Building: Institute

Hall: Hall 2

Modernization of the distribution infrastructure is one of the main challenges, where the current power grid, historically designed in a centralized manner, needs to be optimized to efficiently manage the integration of distributed energy sources and storage systems. Optimization goes hand in hand with smarter systems, capable of managing bi-directional energy flows and ensuring grid stability.
This panel will seek to answer questions about the challenge of ensuring a steady flow of investment in an uncertain regulatory and economic environment.
