Sara Larrain

She is a member of the Environmental Commission of the Metropolitan Regional Government and of the Metropolitan Region Water Fund. She serves as President of the Network of Nature Sanctuaries and is a member of the Commission for Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change Resilience, created by the Ministries of Environment, Energy, Economy, and Science in late March 2024.

She has been a faculty member at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. She coordinated the Energy/Atmosphere Campaign for Greenpeace Latin America and for the Southern Cone Sustainable Program, with activities in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, and Mexico.

She has served on the Board of Directors of the Chilean Agency for Energy Efficiency and participated in both the Advisory Committee for the Update of the 2050 Energy Policy and the Advisory Committee for the Long-Term Climate Strategy.

Sara has been actively involved in the design and advocacy of several public policies: the Non-Conventional Renewable Energy Laws (2008 and 2012); the Residential Generators Law (2012); the Mine Closure and Abandonment Law (2010–2012); the Extended Producer Responsibility and Recycling Promotion Law (2013–2016); the Energy Efficiency Promotion Law (2017–2018); the Roundtable for the Retirement or Conversion of Coal-Fired Power Plants (2018); the Water Code Reform (2011–2022); the Framework Law on Climate Change (2020–2021); and the Law creating the Biodiversity and Protected Wild Areas Service (2015–2023).
