Roberto G. Aiello is a Principal Energy Specialist for the Caribbean region at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). He has over 27 years of experience in investment operations, technical assistance, and policy development in energy and sustainable development. Prior to his current role in the Caribbean, he coordinated the Energy Program in the Southern Cone, based in Paraguay with extended responsibilities in Chile and Uruguay, and previously served as Principal Energy Advisor in Washington, D.C. Before joining the IDB, he held various positions at the World Bank, including Senior Energy Specialist for Latin America and the Pacific, and Climate Finance Specialist based in Washington, D.C. Prior to his work at the World Bank, he served as Technical Coordinator of the Montreal Protocol Unit at Argentina’s Secretariat of Sustainable Development, and earlier worked in private sector operations. Roberto holds a degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master’s in Environmental Studies and Sustainable Development.
