Paola Tapia Salas is the former Minister of Transport and Telecommunications (2017-2018), the first woman to hold that position in Chile.
She holds a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and a Master's degree in Public and Private Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso. Since 2022, she has served as Director of Metropolitan Public Transport of Santiago, in charge of the Mobility Network.
She has served as Head of the Infrastructure and Transport Division of the Metropolitan Regional Government, Vice President of Tren Central, Advisor to the System of Public Enterprises (SEP), and as a member of the Infrastructure Policy Council (CPI). She has extensive professional experience in various leadership positions at the Ministry of Transport and Telecommunications.
She has also taught at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and the Central University. She is the founder of the international Women in Motion initiative and has been named a leading woman in transportation worldwide twice, at the 1st and 5th editions of the Women Mobilize Women Conference, by the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI).
