Michael Schmidt began his professional career as a language and philosophy teacher in Germany before transitioning to the energy sector at the German Wind Energy Association. He has been working in Chile for over five years with GIZ ConoSur on the Energy Partnership projects between Chile and Germany, and Uruguay and Germany, on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi). As a technical advisor, he has extensive professional experience in the field of sustainable energy and communication related to climate change issues. Among other topics, he has overseen the development of studies on the resilience and adaptation of the energy sector to climate change, the coal phase-out in Germany and Chile, and digitalization in the energy transition. In his project, he is responsible for the topics of agrivoltaics and integrated photovoltaic energy.
