Juan Carlos Olmedo is an Electrical Engineer from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He complemented his education with an MBA from Universidad Adolfo Ibáñez, a Certificate in Management from the Darden Business School at the University of Virginia, USA, as well as diplomas in project evaluation, digital transformation, and sustainability.
He has over 30 years of experience in the energy and infrastructure markets in Chile and Latin America, with a focus on regulation and operation of electricity markets, generation and transmission projects, renewable energy, system flexibility, circular economy, and climate change adaptation.
He has held executive positions in power generation and transmission companies, as well as in the maritime and port infrastructure sectors, leading areas such as Operations, Business Development, Innovation, and Commercial Management. He has also served as a board member in energy companies and foundations, a board member of the CDEC-SIC and CDEC-SING in Chile, and an advisor to public and private entities in the Americas, Africa, and Europe on energy regulation and market issues.
In parallel, he has promoted renewable energy startups and energy innovation initiatives. He is currently a professor in the Master’s Program in Energy Economics at Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María and President of the Board of Directors of the Chilean National Electricity Coordinator
