Jesús Tejeda is currently a Principal Sector Specialist and Advisor in the Infrastructure and Energy Division at the IDB. He has more than 20 years of professional experience working on development projects, particularly in the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. He has participated in the design and execution of landmark projects across the region, including the replacement of fossil fuels with electricity for cooking, achieving universal access to electricity in isolated communities, the local development of renewable technologies, reform programs to improve the sustainability of the energy sector, the promotion of productive uses of electricity in rural communities, and the development of regional economic integration initiatives, among others.
Previously, Jesús worked in Europe on the 5th Research and Development Program. In Mexico, he worked for PEMEX in refining processes and as an Advisor at the Ministry of Energy (SENER). From UNDP, he promoted the implementation of renewable energy programs and the development of socio-environmental standards.
Jesús holds a Ph.D. in Biomaterials from the Institut National Polytechnique (INP) in France.
