Edwin Malagón is a Senior Specialist at the IDB. He has 20 years of experience in the energy sector. He joined the IDB in 2014 in Washington, D.C., and has since worked in the offices of Caracas, Buenos Aires, and La Paz, where he has been leading loan programs for the modernization of hydroelectric plants, expansion of transmission systems, and rural electrification, along with technical assistance initiatives to support energy transition policies.
Before joining the IDB, he worked at ENEL Colombia in the areas of energy markets and electricity distribution. Edwin holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National University of Colombia, a specialization in Economics from the University of Los Andes (Colombia), and a Master’s degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability Science from Lund University (Sweden).
