Carlos J. Echevarria has over 30 years of experience in infrastructure project financing, with the last 25 years dedicated to financing operations in the energy sector. He has worked in most countries in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Since 2009, Carlos has served as an energy specialist at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), where he has been responsible for sector dialogue and IDB energy operations in Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. He has also led and coordinated the Bank’s regional energy integration initiatives in Central America (Central American Electrical Interconnection System – SIEPAC), the Andean countries (Andean Electrical Interconnection System – SINEA), the Southern Cone countries (Southern Energy Integration System – SIESUR), and the countries of the Northern Arc (Electrical Interconnection System of the Northern Arc Countries – ARCONORTE).
Carlos J. Echevarria is currently the Regional Lead Energy Specialist at the IDB, responsible for sector dialogue and the Bank’s operations in Chile. He also coordinates the IDB’s sector specialists in the Southern Cone countries.
Carlos holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, an MBA, and a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy and Electrical Systems
