Regional energy integration has been one of the pillars of energy development in Latin America and the Caribbean for decades. In a context shaped by the energy transition, growing demand, climate change, and the need to strengthen security of supply, cooperation among countries has taken on renewed importance.
The region possesses an exceptional combination of energy resources, technical capabilities, and infrastructure that offers major opportunities for complementarity. Its diverse energy mixes, abundant renewable resources, and hydroelectric, natural gas, and mineral potential provide a strong foundation for deeper integration and shared benefits.
This agenda goes beyond infrastructure development and cross-border energy trade. It also enables the optimization of resources, cost reductions, greater resilience, easier integration of clean energy, and improved conditions for mobilizing investment.
OLACDE plays a central role in this process by promoting political dialogue, technical cooperation, and the development of a shared energy agenda. The panel will bring together authorities, international organizations, financial institutions, companies, and specialists to examine the challenges and opportunities of regional integration and identify concrete actions to consolidate it as a driver of safer, more sustainable, inclusive, and competitive energy systems.
