Session

Modern Energy for All: What Does the Region Need to Ensure Universal Access?

Topic: Just Energy Transitions
Session information

Latin America and the Caribbean are making progress in their energy transitions, but still face significant challenges in achieving universal access to modern energy, especially in rural areas and historically excluded communities. This session will address persistent gaps in electrification and the use of clean cooking technologies, highlighting opportunities such as reducing renewable energy costs, accessing green financing, and expanding decentralized solutions. The discussion will focus on how to accelerate a just, inclusive, and people-centered energy transition, with an emphasis on territorial equity and long-term sustainability. Effective public policies, support mechanisms, and strategic partnerships will be explored to ensure secure, affordable, and sustainable energy services for all.
