Keynote Session: Transforming Consumption: Strategies for Decarbonizing Demand

Topic: Decarbonization
Session information

Latin America and the Caribbean are making significant progress in decarbonizing industries and transportation through the use of renewable energy and green hydrogen. Although they face challenges such as high costs and the need for greater regional coordination, these efforts are creating opportunities to improve industrial competitiveness. The mining sector shows great potential and, with appropriate financial and technological support, can become a leader in the energy transition. The key is to coordinate all stakeholders to implement sustainable measures that are viable both environmentally and economically, technically and socio-environmentally. These actions will drive the energy transition, protecting jobs and fostering economic growth, especially in countries with extractive economies. International climate finance and regional cooperation will be essential to seize this crucial decade and build a more sustainable and prosperous future.
