Closed Workshop – Energy for the Future: Girls in STEM

Session information

The energy sector directly employs professionals trained in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Therefore, addressing the gaps in access to and retention in higher education institutions is also essential. While multiple circumstances shape women’s pathways in STEM careers, sparking interest at an early stage—through early exposure to science and technology—will play a central role in fostering future professional trajectories linked to STEM.

In the effort to create a meaningful experience for girls and inspire their interest in STEM, during the X Energy Week in Chile, an immersion activity will be carried out, led by the NGO Ingeniosas. In this activity, young girls from a primary school will participate in an interactive workshop accompanied by women professionals from the Chilean energy sector.

Additionally, there will be an innovative space coordinated by the Educa Sostenible program of the Chilean Energy Sustainability Agency and the Ministry of Energy of Chile, where, using virtual reality headsets, the students will take on an energy-related challenge, enabling learning through play.
