Academic Event "Connecting Minds, Energizing the Future"

This event will address the relationship between education and energy, exploring how training, outreach, and research contribute to just energy transitions. The event will emphasize decentralization and territorial action, highlighting the role of higher and technical-professional education in promoting innovation, technology transfer, and generating human capital for an inclusive energy transition.

This activity is linked to the call for papers for OLADE’s EnerLAC journal, through which five articles will be selected for presentation during the event. These papers will serve as a starting point for a conversation between representatives of universities in the region and other relevant stakeholders in the public-private dialogue.

"First Meeting of Youth of Latin America and the Caribbean in Energy"

In Latin America and the Caribbean, young people play an increasingly active role in the search for a just and sustainable future. Through diverse initiatives, they articulate their voices and actions to demand responses to social and environmental challenges, with a growing focus on the climate crisis. In this context, the transformation of the energy sector – key to mitigating climate change – is beginning to be high on its agenda.

In this framework, the First Meeting of Youth of Latin America and the Caribbean in Energy is proposed as a space for meeting, dialogue and visibility for young people who promote transformations from different territories and contexts. The event seeks to strengthen their participation in the regional energy agenda, promoting the exchange of experiences, the construction of alliances and the articulation with public and private actors.

The activity will offer opportunities to share projects, reflect on the challenges of the just energy transition, and explore innovative forms of youth participation and advocacy in the sector. It will also be a concrete opportunity to position young voices as an active part of the solutions demanded by the present.

II International Seminar on Energy Interconnection in Latin America: Technical, Political and Economic Challenges.

Enrique d’Etingny Auditorium, FCFM, Universidad de Chile (Beauchef 851, Santiago)Energy interconnection in Latin America is projected as a key element for the region’s energy transition. This process, which involves the integration of the electricity grids of the different countries, would not only optimize the use of abundant renewable energy resources, but also strengthen resilience to fluctuations in demand and supply, as well as enable the export of green hydrogen and derivatives.

However, this effort faces complex technical challenges, such as infrastructure compatibility, as well as political and economic barriers that require a high degree of cooperation among nations. In this context, the second version of the International Seminar on Energy Interconnection in Latin America: Technical, Political and Economic Challenges, organized by the Solar Energy Research Center (SERC Chile), focuses on addressing updated perspectives on these crucial issues, providing a space for discussion and collaboration between experts, authorities and representatives of the energy sector.
