The presentation of the OLACDE White Paper on Energy Efficiency, which will take place on October 5, 2026, within the framework of the 11th Energy Week, will offer a comprehensive overview of the role of energy efficiency in Latin America and the Caribbean. The document addresses global and regional goals, indicators, institutional and regulatory frameworks, financing mechanisms, and methodological challenges, with the aim of guiding effective, measurable policies aligned with development and energy transition objectives.
The session will highlight priority sectors such as buildings, industry, and transportation, as well as emerging technologies related to artificial intelligence, ICT, and energy storage. It will also address electric mobility as an opportunity to reduce emissions, improve urban air quality, strengthen energy security, and promote new business models.
The potential of energy districts, which integrate electricity, heat, cooling, storage, and renewable energy through shared infrastructure, will also be analyzed. Experiences in Chile, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic demonstrate their capacity to improve efficiency, harness waste heat, and promote cleaner and more resilient energy solutions.
The meeting will provide an opportunity to reflect on the policies, capabilities, financing models, and cooperation frameworks needed to accelerate a regional agenda for energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, and integrated urban and industrial solutions.
