Latin America and the Caribbean has one of the cleanest electricity grids in the world, but energy exchange between countries remains limited. This keynote session will address the challenges and opportunities for moving toward a more integrated regional energy market, enabling more efficient use of renewable resources and improving supply security and affordability. Drawing on accumulated experience and renewed political and institutional momentum, the need to harmonize regulations, strengthen governance, and expand electricity and gas interconnection infrastructure will be discussed. The discussion will highlight the importance of coordinated regional planning and collaborative work between countries and multilateral agencies to consolidate a sustainable and resilient energy integration model.
