This session will explore the participation of women in STEM careers in Latin America and the Caribbean through a systemic gender-focused lens, highlighting both progress and persistent challenges in access, retention, and professional development—particularly in strategic sectors like energy. It will examine structural and sociocultural barriers limiting inclusion, and emphasize key strategies to promote gender equity, such as increasing the visibility of female role models, strengthening mentorship networks, and implementing inclusive public policies. The session aims to raise awareness about the critical role of women in STEM for driving innovation, sustainability, and regional competitiveness.
