Energy poverty remains a key challenge for advancing toward a truly just energy transition in Latin America and the Caribbean. This session will open a space for regional dialogue to highlight the importance of the issue, share recent lessons learned, and promote its incorporation into the region’s public and technical agendas.
The meeting will also serve as a lead-up to the First Regional Meeting on Energy Poverty in Brazil, providing elements to enrich the discussion and strengthen cooperation among institutions and countries. The session will address methodological advances, technical assistance experiences, and common challenges related to the definition, measurement, and incorporation of energy poverty into public policies.
It will also seek to promote a more coordinated regional agenda, with better information systems, comparable approaches, and more effective policy responses, in coordination with ECLAC, OLACDE, and other relevant stakeholders.
