Energy Financing – Keynote Session

Topic: Energetic Security and Financing for Sustainable Transition
Session information

Financing is one of the fundamental pillars for ensuring secure, sustainable, and affordable energy systems. In a context of rising demand, infrastructure modernization, and an accelerating energy transition, mobilizing public and private resources will be decisive for expanding networks, integrating new technologies, strengthening resilience, and sustaining investment flows.

The session will address the main challenges and opportunities for energy financing in Latin America and the Caribbean, including the design of sustainable and equitable tariffs, cost recovery, private capital mobilization, access to climate finance, and the development of innovative mechanisms to reduce risk and make strategic projects viable.

The dialogue will provide an opportunity to reflect on how to balance affordability, financial sustainability, and public policy objectives, as well as on the roles of governments, financial institutions, regulators, and the private sector in building financing models capable of supporting the region’s energy transformation.
