Understanding the Drivers Behind Private Sector Investment in Energy Efficiency in Latin America and The Caribbean

Topic: Just Energy Transitions
Session information

Energy efficiency is key to building more sustainable, competitive, and resilient energy systems in Latin America and the Caribbean. However, despite its proven benefits, private investment in this area remains limited due to barriers such as a lack of information on savings opportunities, the perception of high financial risks, and the absence of clear and stable regulatory frameworks. This session will explore what factors truly incentivize—or hinder—the private sector from investing in energy efficiency in the region. The role of public policy, financing mechanisms, international standards, and business innovation as tools to boost the energy efficiency ecosystem will be discussed. Through exchanges across different productive sectors, the session will seek to identify concrete opportunities to scale solutions that contribute to a more inclusive and low-emission energy transition.
