Artificial intelligence is emerging as a key catalyst in the transformation of the energy sector in Latin America and the Caribbean. With 67% of organizations projecting an increase in their AI budgets in the next two years, the region is investing in technologies that promise greater efficiency, cost reduction, and more agile decision-making.
From production prediction in hydroelectric plants to smart consumption management in connected homes, AI applications are redefining the energy value chain. Tools such as digital twins and smart grids are enabling more accurate monitoring and more resilient operation of critical infrastructure. However, this advancement also poses significant challenges: dependence on foreign-developed algorithms, the need for robust ethical frameworks, and equitable access to quality data.
This session will analyze how the region can harness the transformative potential of AI without compromising its technological autonomy or equitable access to its benefits. Is Latin America ready to lead its own digital energy revolution, or will it rely on external solutions to drive its energy future?
