Latin America and the Caribbean are making significant progress in the decarbonization of industries and transportation through the use of renewable energy and green hydrogen. Although they face challenges such as high costs and the need for greater regional coordination, these efforts are creating opportunities to improve industrial competitiveness. The mining sector shows great potential and, with the right financial and technological support, can become a leader in the energy transition. The key is to coordinate all actors to implement sustainable measures that are environmentally viable, economically, technically and socio-environmentally. These actions will boost the energy transition, protecting jobs and fostering economic growth, especially in countries with extractive economies. International climate finance and regional cooperation will be critical to building on this crucial decade and building a more sustainable and prosperous future.
